That idiot from Twitter that you came to BlueSky to avoid.
But apparently an actual MP heading out to directly endorse Trump and act unofficially as Britain's position on the matter is not even worth mentioning.

And that's how the press works. Totally cool and normal and fair and balanced and good for us all.

About 22.5%, so yeah, roughly a quarter. Console yourself that 3 in every 4 people you meet think (correctly) that he's an asshole.

And if you live in Mississippi or North Dakota or Alaska, neither of those situations is going to make any difference to you whatsoever.

Advanced economies are so centralised now that talking about the entire macroeconomic situation as one is a total red herring.

Adding 1.1% to California's output is the equivalent of DOUBLING Vermont's.

And the thing is that this is true of basically everywhere, but it's even more true in America which is A) essentially just 50 separate places operating under a single banner of convenience and B) geographically fucking enormous.

I was considering recently the idea of government-backed equity release for pensioners in low-economic-activity areas (South Devon as an example). These people are asset rich and cash poor, so the local economy is trash. Releasing some of that unproductive money would be a start.

Wait until you find out that when you accept a fixed penalty for e.g. speeding, the process is fully electronic. However, because no one thought to update the legislation, it's still a bilateral legal requirement for you to send your licence by mail, for it to be opened, re-enveloped and sent back.

YES! This is a brilliant example of the 'Fifty Million Smokers' fallacy.
I came to the replies looking for this and the 'People listen to Coldplay' meme from Peepshow.

Ah right, that makes sense.

In which case, I remain astounded by the inherent truth of your original number. What a sad state of affairs.

Unless I'm misreading this stat, the top 10% of households (which I'll accept is different from individuals, which is what I presume your £63k is) starts at the thickest possible end of two hundred bags.

UK average gross income per household decile 2022 | Statista
Households in the bottom decile in the United Kingdom earned, on average, 14,729 British pounds per year in 2021/22, compared with the top decile which earned 196,638 pounds per year.
