Hi Bluesky-ers! 👋

Here's mainly what you'll see if you follow me:

1. Worker's rights and the labor movement (pro-union)
2. Equality and justice issues (such as feminism and legal reforms)
3. Anti-abuse advocacy

Would anyone be interested in a worker's rights and labor movement starter pack? 1/

Rich people, especially rich people in the media & entertainment industries right this moment:

The point of having fuck you money is saying “fuck you” when it counts.

if these companies would just put out a statement saying “we told him to go fuck himself” they would instantly have the type of loyal and dedicated customer base corporations dream of and spend decades trying to cultivate
Heard from a friend at Disney+ that there are multiple levels of freakout internally, both from internal dissatisfaction, concerns about subscription cancelations, and of course the big one: concern about a boycott spilling over into parks and cruises.

This is the biggest attack on free speech since the McCarthy era but it also has significantly less popular consensus behind it than the second Red Scare. It's being done on behalf of a minority faction led by the most unpopular president in modern history. Organizing against this can win.

It is not about Kimmel or what he said. It is about the US government forcing a network to fire someone - no government should have that power. If the network decided this on their own, that’s one thing. But in this case they absolutely did not.

Every pundit who took at face value the idea that the Right sincerely cares about free speech, or ideological diversity, or in fact has any principles at all, should be wearing a dunce cap and writing a lengthy mea culpa right now. Not for our catharsis but for public awareness at least

Can Jimmy Kimmel sue Brendan Carr, or other federal actors, for violating his First Amendment rights by coercing ABC to suspend his show, and maybe eventually to fire him?

To teal deer it, yes, but without an effective remedy.

This isn’t just! It’s unconstitutional! It’s hypocritical! It’s immoral! It’s illegal! It’s wrong! It’s unprecedented!

They don’t care about any of those things.

They laugh at handwringing.

It’s about acquiring & wielding power.

You can’t shame them, you have to defeat them.

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

It's been 62 years since "Letter from Birmingham Jail" was written and MLK's words about the white moderate are still completely on point. (See pic)

My fave MLK quote is "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

The little stuff matters. Do not tolerate BS or you will receive BS.

Collective action is how anything gets done in this country.

Unions, boycotts, political organizing - all collective action.

It is high time for all citizens against fascism to get organized.

We need to be striking, boycotting, etc.
Every major talent that works for ABC and Disney should refuse to show up for work until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated.

Marvel movies need to shutdown. Ditto the sitcoms.

Collective boycott.

Corporations love money more than anything,& this will harm them and force them to do the right thing.
