Bingo. I know a few boomers who are unalloyed racists (and resentful of the fact they mostly have to hide it) who go apeshit when you suggest anything they say or do might even slightly be racist.
I think for a subset of Anglos, the accusation of being racist is seen as more offensive than being racist itself

I love these holidays but it seems like every year I become more and more of a ghost, haunting my past lives. The world mostly moved on, a Time of Contempt is upon us, and all of this makes me feel like a 14 year old who missed the bus at Six Flags.
