🔬Palaeoecologist at the University of Exeter | 🌎 NERC GW4+ DTP PhD researcher | Interested in the Pleistocene megafaunal extinctions 🦣
Thoroughly enjoyed attending the first @wildsummituk.bsky.social 🍄🌿🦇
The panel discussions were a particular highlight — full of insight, passion, and importantly, hope.
I’m walking away with a deeper understanding of the challenges, solutions, and successes surrounding nature recovery in the UK 🦫

Freshly split sediment cores from my recent lake coring fieldwork in Colombia 🇨🇴
Layer by layer, the sediments preserve many clues, including past climate, large herbivores, and human activity. I am excited to discover what stories they hold 🦥🌿🔥

It was a privilege to share my research at the @nhm-london.bsky.social this week and explore connections with my interest in rewilding as an environmental solution 🦬🌿
Thankful for the opportunity to connect with other researchers across the NERC GW4+DLTP and visit an 'old friend' 🦥

This week, I'm at a NERC freshwater ecology course at the Natural History Museum. Coincidentally, a paper on the rise and fall of giant sloths has been published. Standing beside the museums Megatherium is a poignant reminder of the loss of a fascinating species 🦥

The journey has begun. Off to Colombia for PhD fieldwork, with the aim of collecting sediment cores to uncover more clues about the Pleistocene megafauna extinctions. Fingers crossed the lake has some exciting stories to reveal—and maybe a giant ground sloth or two! 🦥🌿🇨🇴
