Hi all, I’m Laura, feral marker & pen artist, doing new art every day for 2025. I tend to do cartoons, OCs, and whatever strange thing occurs to me that day. These are two of my OCs, The Watchers. 😊💜
The Prophet Gets The Wrong Coffee - a marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of my OC, The Mouse Prophet, sitting at a wooden table on the right of the image, looking left at my OC, The Watcher, on the left. The Watcher is holding a huge cup of coffee above their head with both hands, (they are the same height as the table), trying to put it on the table without spilling the coffee, which is sloshing above their head edge of the mug. A speech bubble over The Watcher says “‘Morning, your Magnificence! The Coffee Shop was out of your usual blend, but they said this was the same!”. A white text box on the right, above the signature has the text: “…it was not the same.”. The Prophet is a bipedal skeleton with a mouse skull, which is resting on their left skeletal hand as they raise their eyebrow at The Watcher, tapping their right finger bones on the table impatiently. The Prophet is wearing a green robe with a line of green-irised eyes down the front of the robe and around the cuffs of the sleeves; the eyes move, and here, they are all staring at the coffee. The prophet, as befits a deity, has a large golden halo with spikes radiating out, edged with gold dots. The Watcher, one of a pair, is an assistant to The Prophet, and is a small, gold-winged, robed creature with gold hands. Their head is hooded, with mouse ear bumps, but no visible face. No one even knows if they have a face, and no one has ever seen it (no one still alive, at least!). The Prophet normally thinks The Watchers are funny, but The Prophet’s morning coffee is SACRED! A marker, ink, and paint pen cartoon of my OCs, The Watchers (the small, robed creatures with gold wings and hands mouse ear bumps on their hoods, but no visible faces who assist The Mouse Prophet) facing each other. The Watcher on the right is sitting on a red cushion, holding a green mug of tea, looking at The Watcher on the left, who has their wings in complete disarray, head down, with their hood pulled over their head entirely, soaked in brown liquid that is dripping off their hood and wings, and puddled around them. The seated Watcher says “Didn’t like the new coffee?”, and the standing Watcher replies “…didn’t like the new coffee.”. The Mouse Prophet is very fussy about their morning coffee! The coffee-soaked Watcher has just stepped out of an inter dimensional portal, which is throwing light on both Watchers, so their shadows go to the right. The background sky is blue with stars and galaxies, the ground is sand-coloured. A marker, ink, & paint pen drawing of my OCs, The Watchers (TW), two supernatural robed creatures with gold hands & wings, robed so that their faces (we think they don’t have any!) are covered, showing only the mouse-like ear bumps on their heads. Left TW is lying on the second shelf down, gold feathered wings folded on their back, leaning on their elbows, looking at right TW, who is reaching for a book on the top shelf (Really Wicked Spells), trying to use their gold, blue, & yellow dragon wings to reach it (their feet do not touch the ground.)(Actually, their feet aren’t visible…). The left W is saying (in speech bubble): “…Asked The Prophet for new wings, huh? I TOLD you to wait until AFTER the summoning, “Smaug”!”. The right W is replying (in speech bubble) “Oh, shut up.”. The bookcase is brown wood. All the books have joke titles (like How to Knit Dr. Wu’s Cardigan!). Top shelf, L-R: a mysterious glowing machine, 13 books, a wooden box with a gold lock that has a cobweb & a mouse skull set on top, a three-eyed, fanged, skull under a glass dome, 11 books about Cryptids. 2nd shelf, L-R: a pink day planner (for 6000 b.c.e.), 15 diaries dating from 3000b.c.e.-1970c.e., left TW lying in front of books, 7 visible books, right TW’s arm & head, 7 more books. 3rd shelf, L-R: a box with air holes & 2 labels (DO NOT OPEN!, & CONTENTS: ONE CAT (MAYBE)) marked Schrödinger Animal Distribution, 7 books, a gold machine with black legs that has a glass top containing a large eye & smaller eyes on stalks, 2 books (Tiny Mobile Death Ray!), right TW’s body, 3 books. Bottom shelf, L-R: 22 books, the rest covered by right TW. Don’t worry, TWs are inseparable! And The Prophet will probably give them new wings soon(ish). TWs are in the library of The Mouse Prophet (also my OC). The book titles reference my other OCs, monsters, magic, & parodies of real books. Wings reference for left TW: TigerStrawberry/iStock, right TW: The Sforza Hours (1400s). My fave bit is right TW’s wings. A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of my OCs The Watchers (two of my OCs, small creatures with no faces under their hoods, mouse-like ear bumps, robes, and gold hands). Their robes are a brighter orange than usual. Top left is a white text box with lettering (all text is hand lettered) that says: “I PUT MY OCs THROUGH SO MUCH…”. The left Watcher is facing right, and has their hood pulled all the way over their head, and their ear bumps are flat on their head. Their right hand is facepalming their hood (who knows if there’s a face under there; not us!), their left hand at their side. They have huge feathery wings in red, blue, and yellow, like a macaw. They are saying “She’s still obsessed with Anton Seder, isn’t she?!!”. The right Watcher is facing left, and looking over their shoulder at their wings and robe. Their hood looks startled; their ear bumps are straight out to either side. They have wings like fish fins, with long neon green ribs with pink spotted skin in between. They are saying “Sweet Prophet, WTF am I WEARING?!!!”. Both sets of wings were inspired by the work of Art Nouveau artist Anton Seder. I love breaking the fourth wall (Bob says they’re 2D, so it’s the third wall, but I’m not listening. La, la, la.) Background is sand and deep blue sky dotted with stars.
