CEC is just waiting for a serious accident on Colinton Road before doing anything. I also experience close and dangerous passes every week.

Interestingly they mostly concentrate around the cycling infrastructure. The south of Edinburgh is a desert for cyclists for infrastructure and thus bike shops.

There are many people at the "unis" who argue for the bikes. They exist. But they don't have the support of big corporations.

I didn't know this could be referred to as "friction". Interesting.

But it's on OSM.

Voi are not stupid. They also noticed that there is no infrastructure in the South. They know people are thus less likely to cycle there. If only the council had this kind of acumen.

Sadly still mostly nothing south of the Union canal line.
October 13, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Just missing one bridge at one end, and a completed and an actual connection to the union canal at the other. But it's still a good addition. We need more of this, especially in South Edinburgh that has a dearth of cycling infrastructure

They at least recognised the need to maintain continuity of the track. But, I admit (and I did formally commented about it in the consultation) that the consultation phrasing seemed very biased in favour of the Roseburn option... Although I accept the big uncertainty about Dean Bridge.

In the consultation they seem to suggest that the new plan would maintain the path throughout alongside the tram. But again maybe I misread it?

That's 1,000km. Even if just 5km at a time, this is really impressive! Congratulations!

I think the point is not about the protection JLR gets. But when the bicycle lobby asks that a couple of millions be invested in cycle paths (pennies in comparison), then there is no money. And yet, it would be worthwhile money because it would ultimately lea dto reduced NHS costs...

Love the bikes, critical mass, etc. and super supportive of protecting the Rosebur path. But, am I right that the new proposed CEC plan for the tram going through the Roseburn path actually protects the path all the way through? Or did I read this wrong?

Missed you guys. I'll be back tomorrow

And there is nothing more predictable than a bike commute. XXmin +/- 2min. Every. Day.

To be fair, side-saddling a bicycle pannier rack is the old way to do it (when you don't have a cargo bike). But arguably much less visible these days.
