The “deal” deprives Ukraine of everything it has won by withstanding Russian aggression and defending the borders of Europe.

It rewards Russian lawlessness—and makes America complicit in the lawlessness.

It’s the end of post WWII American power.

If Democrats had any sense of self-preservation, they'd threaten Google: "If you enable fascists, once we retake power, we'll target, then break up your company. We'll destroy it."

They can't say anything remotely close to that, however. Short thread.
New: Google has chosen a side in Trump's mass deportation campaign. Google is hosting a CBP facial recognition app to hunt immigrants; no indication Google will remove. At same time Google takes down apps for reporting ICE sightings

Serious question: What's stopping the State of Illinois from arresting Stephen Miller & charging him with incitement?

The Senate didn't confirm him. He's just a guy.

At some point, the states MUST use their authority to prosecute, because the federal government certainly will not.

It is impossible to overstate how much the Dem base right now just wants someone with young, aggressive energy to stop Trump at all costs and punish the lawbreakers.

With few exceptions, Dems frame the current crisis as something that can be alleviated someday, when Democrats again control Congress or the presidency. I think salvation via the election is unrealistic, so I wrote a piece.

The "why bother" question frustrates me more than any other because put another way, what you're asking is "why should I do the right thing if I can't guarantee it'll work out for me"?

That's the sort of question a self interested coward asks, not a leader

I want to give due credit to those particular ICE agents who are honoring their oaths to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States. Two problems: (a) I can't identify anyone behind those masks, and (b) I haven't yet encountered any account of an ICE agent's meeting this description.

This is what an authoritarian regime would do. Hidden deep in Trump’s 1,100-page bill that passed the House today is a provision that would block federal courts from enforcing contempt charges against government officials who violate court orders.

16 Democrats joined Republicans to advance crypto regulation that's been rubber stamped by the industry — as Trump profits off his own memecoin.

Why?

Crypto corporations have shelled out huge campaign contributions to both parties.

Big Money has corrupted the system.

the crypto concern may be flying under the radar but crypto-pilled Democrats need to get got by voters at the ballot box; anytime you hear a Democrat saying they don't like the anti-oligarch messaging of politicians in the "fight" lane, assume crypto influence
Why are other countries' center-left parties more anti-Trump than the Democrats? A few reasons

-Poll chasing is Dem consultants/thought leaders' theory of politics

-gerontocracy

-US liberal elites more interested in partnering w/ right on against Gaza protests

-crypto conflicts of interest
This is two global elections in ONE WEEK where the conservative candidate trying to become prime minister not only led his party to a big loss but lost their own seat in parliament (!) in huge upsets. We are global pariahs unseen since the end of the Cold War and need stronger domestic opposition.

The savvy will scoff, but I am completely serious about this. Congressional Dems should introduce a constitutional amendment to limit the pardon power and force votes on it whenever they can. Dem presidential wannabes should endorse the idea. Blue states should signal support.
