Friend: What are you doing?

Farzana: Snacking on spicy chili crisp!

Friend: Farzana, THAT'S NOT NORMAL! You are not supposed to snack on chili flakes!

Farzana: I am stressed. So, I am trying to feel better by snacking on chili crisp.

Friend: Ok?!

Today, I visited two waterfalls in Washington, Twin Falls and Snoqualmie Falls, and went on a two-hour hike through an ancient rainforest. One of my favorite professors took us out for dinner. In the evening, I took a walk by Lake Washington and saw the Great Wheel. It was an amazing experience!

I will be presenting my paper “State, Islam, Women: Puzzling Policy Variations Across Issues” at the Politics & Gender conference in May. I am grateful for the hotel grant I received from the conference organizers and the APSA Women, Gender, and Politics Section. See you all in New Jersey!

This amazing local coffee shop is helping me overcome a two-week writer's block! Hoping to finish revising my dissertation's literature review chapter tomorrow. Dirt Coffee in Colorado is awesome not just for their delicious coffee but also for their efforts to empower neurodivergent folks!

I’m having an amazing time at the @appam.bsky.social! In just two days, I’ve had the chance to celebrate receiving the Fellowship, had my first professional headshot taken, meet new people, and engage in discussions with wonderful policy scholars.
