It feels reasonable to assume AI is somehow responsible, as its responsible for most of the enshitification of the internet these days. I think the one i was using is powered by google.

A Classic is the "Mechwarrior" series, get to stomp around in the cockpit and shoost.
if you want mechs but in turn-based tactics combat, then theres a spin-off called "Battletech" that is also very good
