I checked today's lecture recording and realised that I gave a rather vivid account of Leo V's assassination.

This is such a fitting title for a chapter on the Byzantine finds from the Üsküdar, Sirkeci, and Yenikapı sites, discovered during the Marmaray Project! From Brill's new Constantinople through the Ages.

Delivered my first undergraduate lecture at Cambridge today! Afterwards, a student told me it was so engaging they didn’t check their phone once—a compliment I’ll gladly take.
