And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts
A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

(Scene: meeting room. Most seats are taken. Guy 1 in corner is wearing an N95 mask, presumably bc he's sick or recovering)

(My boss enters)

Guy 2: be careful sitting next to him. (Jokingly) He's crazy

Me: if that's contagious we're in big trouble

I don't think the average person understands how hard it is to build non-buggy games today. The sheer diversity in hardware, firmware, and software is absurd and games frequently push every part of that equation to limits no other software does. The ubiquity of playable titles is a modern miracle.

Pretty sure the ozempic is making my anxiety spike in the day(s) right after my injection

Once is happenstance, twice is the beginning of a trend 🙃
I did my ozempic shot, please clap

...

Yes it's two days late we're not gonna focus on that part 😑

Wearing Slowdive again. I think it might be my favorite of the set

It's warm and floral and spicy but in a unique way. It doesn't seem like a traditional high end perfume

#sotd
Today's perfume sample: Slowdive by Hiram Green

Initial response: oooooh *interesting* (sniffs more) good? Yes good

Fresh/wet it's...I don't know 😅 white florals, yes. But with a spicy or wood note? Subtle flowers.

Dried down it's warm, a little spicy, tiny bit powdery. I keep sniffing it

THEY HAVE NAMES?!?

WinCo is doing free turkeys 🦃 again for 2025,
when you spend $125, etc, etc.

Good for them, even though turkey prices are up.
If you make more than 1 trip Nov 19-26, you can put an extra in the freezer! 😉
But, remember, no credits cards at WinCo. Bring cash, debit, etc.

Friendly tip for folks. My discord got hacked yesterday and my computer was acting funky ever since. Turns out it was malware installed through a blender file I bought as part of an asset pack on CG Trader. I didn’t know blender files were being used this way, but I figured I’d spread the word.

banger. and this is how I learned Ulta is pulling out of target, which slaps.

they hooked me with the rewards and price range diversity, but I stay getting my frivolous little treats there in-store bc the visible queerness and inclusivity is genuinely a cultural oasis here in Montana
For the cover of Businessweek’s December issue, I wrote about the reigning queen of America’s strip malls: Ulta Beauty, the country’s biggest beauty retailer (yes, bigger than Sephora) and quietly one of the more fascinating retailers in the country. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...
How Beauty Behemoth Ulta Conquered the American Strip Mall
The retailer built an $11 billion business by acting more like Home Depot than like Sephora.

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.

In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”

And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

This Veteran's Day think about all the veterans at home who are struggling with healthcare costs going up, mental health issues, SNAP being cut, the VA being terrible (because it has been terrible for a long time)

Look for a way to donate or support in your local community.

It’s really cool that YouTubeTV is going to give me a $20 credit for not providing the service that I paid for. But instead of just giving it back, they’re letting me do a mini quest. All I have to do is go to the bridge and answer the Troll’s riddle three. They knew I loved extra tasks.
