A magnificent spectacle awaited me there. The last rays of the setting sun painted the landscape with brilliant swipes of red and gold. They illuminated the summits with a magical glow, as the valleys darkened and the evening sky shifted from light blue to deep purple.

To try something new, I rode from Sausalito to Fort Baker, above the Golden Gate Bridge, looping back through Rodeo Beach, Fort Townsend and Bobcat Trail. It was an exhilarating ride: 22 miles, 2,500 feet elevation, 1,036 calories burned — and a nice polish sausage to put them right back on! 🙂

California’s rugged coastline is filled with life, as the light, winds and waves splash over the land and reveal magical scenes everywhere you look. It’s good to be alive with so much beauty around me.

I soared above it all on Christmas Day, following the ravens of Coyote Ridge. They greeted me at the top of the hill, riding with me to the overlook, where they performed an exquisite aerial ballet, gliding over Muir Beach. It felt good to be alive and free like a bird. Merry Xmas!

I went for a joyride up Miwok Trail after the storms. A spectacular light show greeted me at the top of the hill, as radiant clouds flew over the air navigation beacon. The show closed with a luminous finale across the horizon, past Hill 88 and Wolfback Ridge.
