The EU court has ruled that Poland must recognise the marriage of a Polish same-sex couple who married in Germany, even though Polish law does not allow such marriages.

This reminds me of Cardinal John Henry Newman's book Definition of a Gentleman. I often cite Newman's book because it's so instructive. The term gentleman is so overwrought and frequently abused, but to the degree it means anything at all, I think Newman captures it here:

Śniło mi się, że jedyną szansą na ocalenie było znalezienie na czas autobusu 146 na zaśnieżonym dworcu w Lublinie, alternatywnie miejsca na statku, który jakimś cudem dawał radę przepłynąć zaśmiecony kanał w Wenecji, a potem była ucieczka między drzewami w upale na pastwiskach pod Kampinosem.
