Also fwiw it should be possible to patch that cart with a translation romhack, although I've not researched it for DS carts. It probably uses special equipment but I imagine finding cart programming/repros online is the way to get it done.

in general the Japanese take better care of their stuff and they're not as obsessed with the scalping in the retro markets, so it's a lot easier to get decent deals on Japanese versions of carts. Their retro market is still reasonable, with some notable exceptions.
