In temperament, a bully. Like all bullies, servile towards other bullies to curry their favor; and towards others? Exhibiting cruelty reciprocal to their ability to be used by him. A kind word only when it benefits him: hate being his usual stock-in-trade. A lech, seeing in women, including his unfortunate offspring, value only where their beauty can be used to mask his own perverse countenance. A cheat; a thief; corrupt, never failing to take an opportunity to gather for himself others' harvests: generally by trick, never by his own force-owing to the cowardice festering in his heart, another trait shared with other despotic men. A man whose insistent demand to be respected exists in strident and direct inverse proportion to his worthiness of any positive regard. A man whose main merit in his dotage is that his evil years are many, and the good and wicked alike must eventually travel the same path: the only path he has richly earned the right to share with his betters.
