It's increasingly clear that the president lives in a constructed bubble of unreality designed by aides who are manipulating him in order to take control of US policy. Seems like an important story - wish media would cover it.

This Court considered it an egregious abuse of executive power for Biden to modify student loan payments based on a statute authorizing the executive branch to "waive or modify" student loan payments

I was on Senate Floor in October 1991 when Congresswomen marched over to protest the handling of the Thomas nomination. In the next cycle, incumbents lost primaries and women Senators were elected. I encourage House Democrats to make a similar protest tomorrow. @aoc.bsky.social @raskin.house.gov

Why are no Democrat senators placing a blanket hold on any DOE or EPA nominees until the agencies confirm that payments of contractually obligated grants and loans are resuming under regular process? Why would Democrats let any of these people be confirmed under current circumstances?

Keep pushing back. Hard.

He blinked on tariffs.
His California water stunt failed and has been ridiculed.
He was forced to roll back cutting grants and govt payments.
NSF support is resuming.
CDC webpages are being restored.
Street protests are starting.
Lawsuits are being filed.
Fight back.

This language describes a coup. You have to be a government employee, subject to the rules & procedures that bind gov employees, to do this kind of work. This is a blatant abuse of the public trust by the Trump administration, a true 5-alarm fire. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

Time to accept that we simply have a mad king. The guy slapping 25% tariffs on Canada's postage while calling for its annexation - and releasing scarce water into the Central Valley to fight already-contained fires in LA - isn't doing a bit or pursuing a secret, rational strategy

I really hope the reality of this sinks in and that the press and others start to narrate what is happening here. Trump and Vought are destroying trust in an essential function of the government: the ability to credibly enter contracts to achieve any and all public purposes. That's really bad. 🧵/end

by freezing all federal grants, trump is fundamentally transforming the relationship between the executive and congress. he is asserting dictatorial authority over federal spending, transforming congress's lawmaking powers into advisory authority. it is a constitutional crisis

A gentle reminder that if we miss the 1.5°C target (and we certainly will), the next target is 1.51°C and not 2°C. We need to keep fighting.

Every tonne of CO₂ emitted makes the job of future CO₂ removal harder, and every 0.01°C of temperature increase makes the world more chaotic and dangerous.

The parts of Build Back Better blocked by the Senate were those which would have directly benefited working people:

- Paid + Family Leave
- Child Tax Credit
- Universal pre-K
- $15 minimum wage

Instead, Bidenomics was all indirect and through the market:

- CHIPS
- IRA
- Infrastructure

My short take:

US oil & gas production and LNG exports are not meaningfully constrained by permits.

Transmission expansion (and thus wind & solar deployment) absolutely is.

Get it done if you can.
I am interested in hearing what #energysky thinks about the Manchin-Barraso Energy Permitting Reform Act 🔌💡
