It's just the same old complicated, dangerous, eye-wateringly expensive, dirty technology that consumes more energy in its construction and decommissioning (and produces more carbon) than the power it eventually produces.

The "romance" of nuclear energy is a complete scam.

huge affection for both Jeremy and Zarah, but this idea of some 'parts' that other parties cannot reach is a conceit, obvs pragmatic stuff over national elections is sensible

The answer, I suspect, is that the eye-watering costs of civil nuclear cross-subsidise the military programme.
The majority of countries with big civil ambitions are nuclear powers. Japan and S. Korea are outliers here. I wonder why?
