It is very difficult, when organizing people in this moment, to balance two true things in tension w/ each other:
1. The threat is bigger/longer than you are perceiving and you are underreacting on offense
2. The threat is less proximate/powerful than you fear and you are overreacting on defense

Before working for the Evil Empire I didn't fully grasp that you can have health insurance and also afford rent. So much of the craft industry is built on the backs of people who don't know how badly they're being screwed.
21 lots of craft breweries are facing the same crisis that fine-ish dining is going through. Overpriced product and really underpaid staff to make up for raising rents and loans. The parallels of leaving the coolest restaurant in town to work at a hospital isn’t different than getting a gig at inbev

I don't think NYT should know peace until they divulge the full chain of decision making that led to the laundering of Nazi propaganda against a leading anti-fascist politician the same day fascism was codified in Congress.

So this is after the Speaker of the House said the Governor of California should be tarred and feathered, slightly disagreeing with the President and his Border Czar who wanted to arrest him, two months after somebody tried to burn the Governor of Pennsylvania and his family alive in their home.

I can't help but feel we are rapidly approaching the point where attempts to disappear individuals, hold them indefinitely, and brutalize protesters is going to be met with retaliatory violence.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.
