📍Hamburg

Meanwhile, Eastern philosophy has been saving me my whole life, helping me crawl through this hell and the puddles of shit and vomit every fucking day.

Americans think their democracy is indestructible… well, surprise! Nothing is indestructible.

They think, “Why protest if the courts or members of Congress will take care of everything?”

But democratic institutions only function as long as everyone is willing to play by the rules—and right now, Trump couldn’t care less about them.

It’s so funny to me that Germans consider the CDU a democratic party. They think the right wing is fine as long as it covers up its fascism a little. The right only starts to bother people when right-wingers begin quoting Hitler—like some AfD leaders do.

Now dictatorship has come to America. And Americans aren’t doing shit. Many haven’t even realized it yet. Shocking, truly.

Do I feel sorry for them? No.

I hope they get everything they wished upon people like me.

Americans arrogantly lectured me about collateral damage and collective responsibility. They told me people like me were to blame—for failing to overthrow a dictatorship.

I was a terrified refugee barely surviving, with nowhere to go, and they enjoyed it like it was some kind of TV show.

I had no illusions about Germans. I didn't expect to make friends with them (they don’t like migrants, lol; my German neighbors don't even say hello to me). But I thought I could at least make friends with other immigrants... Surprise! Even people from the Global South become closed off here.

so yes, while I think the medical system here is far from perfect, I think the American system is far worse and simply inhumane.

Like, a friend of a my friend got leukemia. Germany paid €2,000,000 for his treatment. He is not even a German citizen, he is a refugee from Ukraine.

No matter how much your medicine costs, you will not pay more than 10 euros for it (insurance will cover the rest).

If you get cancer and your treatment costs millions of euros, the state pays for everything.

You can't die or go bankrupt just because you don't have money for treatment.

Well, I’d be afraid to live in the U.S., frankly.

Yes, there are not enough doctors in Germany and usually you wait a long time for an apoitment.

But in Germany you have insurance that covers just about everything (even if you currently unemployed can't pay for insurance by yourself)

In December, I'm going to see a psychiatrist that I miraculously got an appointment with. he allocates 15 minutes per patient. and you wait months for one appointment. this health care system is a fake. it doesn't fulfill its stated functions.
