If the scene isn't serving the story, I will either add to it so that it does, cut the entire thing, or combine what I like or need with another scene. That way, everything in the story is doing some lifting.

Thanks for the question. When I'm revising, I cut and condense elements that I don't end up needing or that are repeated throughout the first draft. I find that there are naturally redundancies and things that are easy to trim. I have always preferred that to needing to beef up my word count.
