Environmental justice coverage must become routine, not reactive. Visibility is the first obligation -- but not the last. When coverage flattens crises, omits frontline voices, or disappears harm, it abets the dismantling of protections, accountability, and memory itself.

The Trump administration is actively dismantling decades of environmental justice policy. Broadcast journalism must respond with clarity and consistency -- connecting these rollbacks to the lives, rights, and health of the communities most at risk.

Networks mentioned extreme weather in 31% of climate segments but mentioned fossil fuels in only 9%. As President Trump expands oil drilling and dismantles climate policies, broadcast news must connect these specific decisions to the impacts viewers are experiencing.

With extreme weather intensifying, cable and broadcast news must move beyond disaster coverage to explain climate links, ensure balanced coverage of all impacted communities, investigate fossil fuel accountability, and explore adaptation strategies.
