I just watched a webinar by Future Ed, "School Performance: Measuring What Matters Most" which mentioned the old NCLB phrase "the soft bigotry of low expectations."

I would say it should be "the soft bigotry of corporatization, privatization, and insufficient funding of public schools"!

Many of the people I know, good people utterly appalled by this war on our democracy, are just burying their heads in the sand, refusing to even read the news, because everything is so upsetting. I understand the impulse, but now is the time to fight. They’re counting on our apathy.
