🏳️‍⚧️We demand that the UK government reverse this harmful decision by enshrining in law what we already know to be true: trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary people are valid and must be fully recognised.

This ruling risks emboldening transphobic rhetoric and policies, creating a hostile environment that undermines the very principles of equality and human dignity.

🌹🇪🇺As Young European Socialists, we stand in full solidarity with the trans community in the UK and across Europe. Gender is not determined by biology alone. It is deeply personal, social, and valid in all its forms.

❌By ruling that “woman” refers solely to biological sex, the court has legitimized exclusion and rolled back hard-won protections for trans and non-binary people.

❌This risks legitimising both legislative and unprecedented attacks on trans and NB existence, which we condemn.

👉🏼The recent UK Supreme Court ruling reinforcing a narrow, binary definition of sex under the Equality Act is a dangerous step backwards in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights.
