The key electoral problem for the Coalition is that support, which started at a minority level hasn't grown over the past nine months, in fact its gone backwards a little.

3/3 In other words, there is room for either side to shift the dial during the campaign and a majority for either, as well as a hung parliament are all possibilities. Not that you would know it from some of the commentary.

2/3 That's quite remarkable given that a) An Opposition hasn't defeated a first term government since 1930 and b) polling has typically indicated a close race. Several polls have put the Coalition ahead 51-49, while our latest poll showed the parties locked at 50-50.

Wikipedia has a much track record of accuracy than most media outlets. The citations are easily accessible if you want to know the source of a particular statement.
