He’s just such a baby, but also he looks like a grandpa.

That squirrel was such a curious little doofus. He had very ‘hello we’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty’ energy and I love him.

Made some friends at the lake today.

I’m glad the Democrats are holding firm on not taking away healthcare for millions, but the fact they have to do that at all means there are park rangers out there keeping their parks clean for no pay, because they care about protecting these birds and giving people a place to go learn about nature.

On the bright side, herons being lazy makes them very easy to take pictures of.

Also, Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually Wildlife Refuge is staffed by park rangers who are furloughed right now. We met one yesterday who was there in civilian clothes because they’re still working shifts to protect the refuge.

Sometimes the birds fly in front of this giant mountain and it looks like it should be fake but actually it’s just the wildlife refuge 45 minutes from your house.

You know, Dave, you could just stay there.

The way they immediately start breaking these little balls of wood down into fairly equal-size twigs that they pack into their tunnels will never not fascinate me.

My ex and I had cats that he took when we split and the younger one passed way today.

I hadn’t seen her in six years, but I miss her right now. She was a doofus and loved belly rubs.

When I lived in LA I had this group of friends who had potlucks a lot, and one time when I asked what everyone wanted me to bring, one of them sent me this.

I uh, might be pretty good at them 😂

Sometimes @jake.sooscreek.productions tells you the figs in their back yard are ripe and suddenly dinner plans are a chaos cheese plate.

Jokes aside, do you even fucking hear yourself my guy? Have some fucking shame, good god.

I love when the girls dig tunnels along the front of the enclosure so I can watch them do things like eat pumpkin seeds.
July 20, 2025 at 11:59 PM
Every part of this is incredible but I am HOWLING at ‘it turns out.’

It turns out? You didn’t know this from the jump my dude?

I just discovered that Brigid (the brown and white one) chewed almost all the way through one of the legs on the platform their wheel is on.

Reader, she did all of this *just this morning.*

Hello, do you like tiny gerbils doing tiny gerbil things?

When I say the girls were busy today…

this corner of the tank was all packed in bedding when I left this morning.

“Sometimes the witch will just pick you up and hold you, and you'll calm her down”

Goddamn it how does this silly quiz manage to be so accurate, because I am absolutely the stress ball of humans.

New grill, Jake for scale.

Here’s the Lightroom info page.

I also was metering for highlights, because there were a lot of tall trees behind me, so the yard tends to have slashes of really bright sunlight and the rest is shady. I also use pre-focus, AF-C, and use the ‘bird’ subject recognition mode.

But really, if I can convince myself to wait, it’s always worth it.
