Frankfurt am Main, Brit, Scot, German.

Controller, coffee drinker, father of two, trying to get back into swimming (again!)

Wish my German was better.
Hell is other people!

They are in a blind alley of their own creation as they can never admit that their policies have caused this mess. They will double down rather than reverse.

It's going to be a car crash and they will push further down on accelerator.

A product in need of a problem in order to be a solution.

Does not look good of Tesla from a marketing perspective.

Back to the thesis that the UK has never recovered from the GFC - physically and emotionally.

Two generations wasted. We’re going to spend at least another now just trying to salvage & rebuild. What a tragic waste.
Again, this was the ugly, dangerous, & inevitable endpoint of Ronald Reagan telling Americans that the nine most terrifying words in the English language were "I'm from the government, & I'm here to help." It's caused two generations of possibly irreparable damage to our politics & polity.
Musk is an absolutely depraved and evil man. Defending Stalin, Hitler, and Mao in order to justify firing VA nurses and park rangers? How does one come to hate civil servants so much? Insane, and dangerous.

Britain is great. The problems are not going to be solved by swimming, fermentation or 5 meals a day.

British wild swimming scene is second to none but water is full of sewage.

British food is great but people need to go to food banks.

For 5 meals a day, can you get that from a food bank?

No.

Beating Australia (especially women's) would take resources that most don't have.

But as long as overall competition is improved, game is going in right direction.

They're panicking. They are now swinging at business with price controls and removal of subsidies.

The problem is that this creates further instability rather than achieving a stable landing.

The comparison is not with what you might have had in the past but with what others have now.

I just believe that this is human psychology.

Is there a book that you would recommend on this history?

Arriving 15 minutes late to the cinema has been a good strategy for 25 years.

It's his mentality and that of his Admin. You're right: there's no political benefit. There is no economic benefit either.

Reagan said that the biggest fear was someone from the government asking how they could help you.

50 years later, the biggest fear is the oligarchs telling you how they are going to help you!

If I was back in Edinburgh, I would definitely go for the black pudding and poached egg combination with fried tomatoes.

The full English/Scottish breakfast is too much for me.

Just day to day or favorite breakfast?

Generally, I am not a big breakfast person but need something to fill my stomach. Black coffee and cereal or croissant hits the spot.

But if we go out for brunch - Israeli breakfasts are top notch. A good Shakshuka and fresh bread is also amazing.
