This was always very obviously the smart play. It’s baffling it still hasn’t happened yet.

Having this exact experience as a senior resident and fellow is what helped me avoid imposter syndrome as an attending!

In my admittedly still pretty limited experience on the hiring side, you can certainly find the occasional gem from a non big name/high volume/high complexity residency but you’re uhhhhh…not wrong and I assume it will only get worse in the coming years.

It’s fascinating honestly. No effort at all to wrestle with the real critiques!
