i need people to understand "death of the author" means the author can't dictate what you take away from the text, not that you're not complicit in what they do with the profit they make from you buying it in the first place

The world is reminding me, again as mine stopped working, that adaptive devices for disabled ppl to just live basic normal lives are f*ing expensive. $150 per finger for splints to reduce pain, $600 min for screen to use Internet w/o triggering a migraine. I'm grumpy. Also have a migraine, again...

Things my students reminded me in the last two days: 1) "Practice makes progress. There's no such thing as perfect!" 2) "It's okay if your mouse (drawing) is ugly. It's still good!" Elementary kids are just so pure. Also guess I need to watch my self criticism a bit more. Good reminder!

I've been tutoring ELA students for a few months now and it's one of those jobs that I leave just feeling happy. I love watching students figure things out and get excited about stuff.
