The nerikomi experiment in question (sorry I don't have a better photo). They are intended to be pencil or knickknack holders for someone's desk. I'm working on a matching phone rest.

Last night in the studio. The plant pot is for a Christmas gift (getting close to the wire to have it done in time) and the mug bodies were a (successful, I think) attempt to use up the scraps left over from my nerikomi experiment. They are destined to be mugs.

Today was kiddo's 5th birthday so I made a cake and brought it to the park because she said she wanted to invite her whole class. We wore fairy wings and decorated wands and they all ran around and had a good time. I am exhausted now though 😅

Glaze making continues to delight. Having a rough time lately getting the thickness right so they don't drip everywhere on larger pots (as compared to test tiles) but the colours are on point #pottery #ceramics

I couldn't decide how to do the handles and panicked cause the studio was closing soon so I made three different ones 🤣

I forgot to take a picture of the wide feet so they wouldn't be tippy I added but this is where I realized they really needed a handle

Started with a stamped slab and a truncated cone template, then cut darts

I made some funny looking tall mugs at the studio tonight. #pottery #slabbuilding

The first set of seedlings are getting some outside time. The tomatoes and peppers will have to wait until it's a little warmer

Ten points if you can guess my favourite colour 😜

Made a tiered tea tray for my mom for mother's day, but it turned out way more my style so I am going to try and make another in time 🤞🤣

Was a bit of a rollercoaster, the holes came out just a tiny bit too small (I think a bit of glaze dripped in) but my dad's dremel + a diamond bit did the trick!

Thrilled with the results from my latest batch of glaze tests 🥰 Two chrome tin pinks, copper faux celadon that's making me want to venture into porcelain, and a calcium zinc Bristol packed with tiny crystals

The test tile situation is getting out of hand

Picked this up last night. I think I need to do more hand building

Last night's kiln presents. The test tiles were to see how various glazes layer on top of the pearl glaze I mixed. I was hoping for something like honey flux or pearl white and I'm super happy with what I got!

I slab built a little tray and then I covered it in green slip 😁 trying to decide whether to do a wash on the texture before I glaze or what

The kiln gods are not always kind 😭 I will have to take a dremel to this one.
