New Pajarito! This one has a La cityscape on his chest. I love a good sunset 🌇
This one's very much sky themed and I still added some botanicals as always.

A ceramic cockatiel with a orange and red flower on its cheek. This is the side view and you can see the wing has a blue sky with swirly clouds glazes on it. You can spot the palm tree that's part of the city scape oh his chest.

Front view and you can see the sun set cityscape much better. There's a shooting star going across the sky.

Back view, you can see the night sky or space in dark blue with starts and a large star design inspired by the Mexica sun glyph. A vine with green leaves decorate the tail.

A goblet I started while I was sick two weeks ago. I gave up after the first step just way to tired to bother with it
Amazingly it was still workable and I finished it earlier this week!

Goblet that's about the size and shape of a wine glass. It has very much texture from carving on it. Just made little holes with that zit popper. Theres texture on the bottom part of the goblet yet.

A clay heart with a scalloped edge and Talavera inspired flower ontop. Right in the middle of the hear is a large glossy eye. Glossy because I burnished it.

Side view and you can really see the roundness of that eyeball

Finally finished! Takes quite a while to get stuff from the gas kiln and my second one didn't make it into this firing.
At least I get one!!!

A heart shaped tray with wall divisions. In the middle an eye shaped wall, even the iris is there. Then there are 6 "lashes that create more walls in the tray. And the outer wall of course.
The center eye was glazes white with a light blue glaze iris. And there's a mix of white and dark blue on the whole piece.
This was photographed indoors and the blue glaze looks very dark.

A bit of a side view. I drew along the edge with gold sharpie to get a wax resist on the bottom edge. Curly designs, waves and some dots.

Corazón updates!

I added flowers last weekend, sliced it off the slab on Tuesday morning, burnished the heart on Wednesday and I've been adding more texture to the wings here and there. Also moved it to another board.

Had to make a little character out of polymer clay as a sample and it was supposed to be simple
Then I started turning it into Marco

Oops!

I'm pretty new to polymer and I'm actually liking how easy it was to make the fabric on his sash belt thing!

The abandoned tray has come out of the kiln! I used satin white on the inside, dipped it partially in tenmoku. And then splattered... Maybe a bit more tenmoku and desert yellow on top.

The serving tray that kind of almost looks like a paw print. Covered in full, dusty looking glaze. Fresh glaze ready to enter the glaze firing.

The same surving tray out of the kiln! Now all glossy! The tenmoku glaze oozing towards the satin white glaze and the splatters have become a bit translucent. Over all very warm tone colors.

Corazón with wings and a flame, tgree sculpted flowers as well. The flowers have eyes on them. It's all resting on a slab of clay, it's been cut and I'm leaving it there to slow the drying process.

Made a student and was abandoned. I pored satin white in the holes, dipped it half way in tenmoku and then splattered more tenmoku and desert yellow.

Ceramic serving tray. It's got walls in organic shapes and different sizes. Smallest one would be great for dip. Five all together and it almost looks like a paw print but not quite.

And a student gave me her tray cuz she wasn't feeling it. Sure! I'll glaze that one too! It's great for carrying my spoons and mini gnome.

Last night was the closing of Xicana, an exhibition my artwork has been in the last few months.
So honored to have my work next to such amazing artists. Ones that I've looked up to for a while and new ones I got to learn about.

I'm learning that I need to make bigger works! My artwork is so tiny

My three ceramic pieces together. Two corazons (hearts) both decorated with florals. The one on the bottom is the Luchador decorated with glyphs and monarch butterflies.

A layered ceramic piece of a luchador mask with monarch butterflies.
The background is a dimond shaped tile with blue, purple and black nebula. White starts are etched on the serface. In the center is a dark blue luchador mask with cut outs for the eyes and even a third eye. The mask is decorated with the glyph for movimiento in orange and yellow. It's flat and hollow and decorated on the inside with light blue flowers and an eye on the forehead. Three monarch butterflies were cut out and attracted. One on the top corner and the bottom corner. And the third is sitting on the mask.

An unfinished heart shaped tray with wall divisions. In the middle an eye shaped wall, the iris wall isn't there yet. Then there are 6 "lashes" that create more walls in the tray. And no outer wall yet.

My eye heart paper I drew on a news paper. I cut out the heart shape by folding the news paper in half. Then I drew in where I wanted the walls to be. Trased in water based marker and that let me transfer the design onto the clay.
Here in the picture it sits with the outer walls on top of it and a bowl of slip next to it.

A clay heart with my signature stamped on it. It's the underside of a tray I posted before.

An up close look at my signature I stamped. It's my name merged together. "Erika" A cursive E, the r is backwards next to the E. The i is just a dot turned into a star ✨
The k is backwards next to the E just like the r. The a is right on the bottom loop of the E. And a few lines next to it and that represent my last name.

I made a girl dinner tray on my stream last night lol

I've always wanted one and thought of making a great generic shape. And then a few of my students made some really cute ones! Thus this idea came out of my brain! It really needed to have an eye.
