We should all be slamming our representatives with calls about this. This is an appalling violation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia's human rights. This is exactly the kind of thing we feared would happen under this administration.

Please speak up. Call your representatives. Share your rage.

Prince Harry was one of the people who dropped the puck to start the Leafs game tonight. I did not expect these two special interests to intersect. A delightful surprise.

Tuning into the Tampa - Detroit game has been a very fun choice.

This is Bester. He wants you to call your representatives about the coup in progress. He tried to do it himself, but he can't figure out how to use the phone.

Most of the people reading this have a sense of how bad things are right now.

So for encouragement, here's a thread with examples of folks fighting back.

Both of my senators are on this list, so I guess I'll spend my lunch break ranting to their voicemail.
Props to the 24 Dems who voted for Sean Duffy as Transportation Secretary:

Alsobrooks, Baldwin, Bennett, Cantwell, Fetterman, Gallego, Gillibrand, Hassan, Hickenlooper, Kaine, Kelly, King, Klobuchar , Padilla, Peters, Rosen, Schatz, Schiff, Schumer, Shaheen, Warner, Warnock, Welch, and Whitehouse

I stopped drinking over 10 years ago. This past month has been one of the hardest since the 2020 lockdowns. I know alcohol will only make things worse, and I'm firm in my commitment not to drink. That doesn't make it easier.

Over on the other site Elon Musk said that DOGE stopped $50M of condoms from being delivered to Gaza which Trump the repeated several times but it turns out that was the number for all contraceptive support from USAID everywhere on Earth, of which none went to Palestinians.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

What even is this timeline? Gods above.
Google said it would rename the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America” after it is updated in the U.S. government system in response to President Trump’s executive order.

People in Mexico will see the Gulf of Mexico, while those outside the two countries will see both names, the company said.
Google Maps says U.S. users will see Trump’s new name for Gulf of Mexico

A very good write up of what exactly went down between the Trump regime and Colombia yesterday.
Ok so if I understand yesterday's short-lived diplomatic crisis, Colombia (who has accepted plenty of deportation flights before) objected to the inhumane treatment of the deportees and thus refused to accept anymore until conditions improved. Trump freaked out and imposed sanctions & tariffs and 1/

I need to stay busy, and I'm also struggling to focus, so I'm crocheting lots of squares. They can be coasters or trivets or documentation of my attempts to keep myself from sliding into total despair.

If a country OTHER than the United States banned a form of media and then brought it back under government control, we'd be decrying their attacks on the free press and referring to it as "state-controlled TikTok."

Just saying.

Why yes, I did just call my boss and say I'm seeing signs of burnout in myself and would like to take tomorrow off. It may not seem like much, but it's huge progress in terms of my self-care. I'm incredibly proud.

The snow is so lovely. I should be curled up with a book and a cup of tea. Instead, I'm putting life insurance policies into reduced paid up status. Way less appropriate for what should be a cozy day.
