As we enter fall, it's so important that we tell everyone to leave those leaves! Mads Torres designed a poster to help us.

Lightning bugs are one of the most charismatic insects we've got. Actions we take to protect them protects many insects!

If you haven't spent much time in rural areas- especially rural AK- you probably think of your local public media as just one of many options. But in rural areas, they're *the* option.

If you're thinking about donating, consider sending it to KOTZ or another small station- it'll go a lot further.
Just saw a post on FB....KOTZ will close in October without CPB funding. This is a huge loss to the area :(

This was my first official job. I started as a secretary/janitor and was a DJ for many years. This is so sad, and devastating for our region :(

The rescission bill has passed the Senate. Once it passes the House, as expected, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's budget will be zeroed out for the first time since 1967, back when TV stations still broadcast in black and white.

We will likely have to take our kids to a major annual conference because both my husband and I are on committees and have other duties, so are expected to be there. But the conference, despite being in a field dominated by women, does not offer childcare.

Biggest difference between my original Oblivion experience and the remaster is how vivid the flora looks!

Realizing I had Columbine, (wild) strawberry, and bergamot (bee balm) in my own pollinator garden blooming right now really shows how much I've grown myself in the last 20 years.

Barriers to writing a research paper that's been looming over me for months:

- what if it's been too long/no longer relevant
- what if our methodology was bad
- what if I misrepresent the articles/theory I've cited
- what if I leave out a glaringly obvious reference

I admit I thought it was called that because it's an intro to inferential statistics for students, which is how I've always encountered it!

I think everyone needs a distractor:

Student’s t-test is one of the most popular statistical tests used by many academics worldwide.

Do you know why it’s called this? Who is this Student?

An alcoholic beverage is partly responsible for the name choice!

AZA doesn't seem to be on here yet (so can't tag) but curious what, if any discussions are happening about how they plan to protect AZA members and guests that belong to marginalized communities at annual conferences in hostile states.

Just pre-ordered. Moving into evaluating applied conservation and wanting the work with my org to be intentional about how we build relationships, maintain those relationships authentically, and decision-make with Indigenous partners and their communities - I'm really looking forward to reading!
Super excited that this amazing book is finally available for preorder. It was written by over 50 Indigenous Peoples from around the world and contains stories, poetry, and critical thought pieces on how TEK is used and extracted from our communities and what folks are doing to protect it.
