By the way Klein and Thompson use the word “sprawl” just once in the book, and it’s part of a critique of a city for trying to prevent it by setting an urban growth boundary. There’s no references to urban “infill” or “density”.

One of the funders is on board with the toxic public lands sell-off.

(Also, there's nothing in the bill that says the lands must "have no ecological or recreational value".)

Public lands are "unused resources" if you don't count the hiking, birding, wildlife habitat, fishing, hunting, energy, cultural history, camping, photography, spirituality, biking, clean water, tourism, jobs, backpacking, skiing, carbon storage, clean air, wellbeing, science, stargazing, education,

You just need to look at a satellite timelapse to see the significant building in recent years and decades, especially at the urban edge.

This is my region where some of the last bits of prairie were cleared for warehouses and forests removed for single family homes.

And they certainly shouldn't be calling on this administration to go full speed ahead with "streamlining environmental reviews for any and all projects with a federal nexus".

Do you think that is going to somehow be a net positive for our environment?
June 4, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Democrats should not under any circumstances be praising the Supreme Court for gutting environmental laws.
June 4, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Surely the path to victory will be through rolling back environmental laws that have strong bipartisan public support.

Did you know Washington state is planning to turn one of our state parks into a golf course?

This disastrous project would bulldoze a sensitive ecosystem and beautiful public park on Washington's coast in Westport.

The deadline to comment is May 23rd.
