We drove about a mile to a park large enough to be pretty dark even on the road and several people stopped just to see why people were out and there was so much sharing wonder with strangers. We should all get to do that more.

My childhood friend and I, both white and male, were VGAM, and, yes and no. Were we shunned by peers? 100%. Did grownups make allowances for our oddnesses? 1000%. He had an R&D career for many years without a degree, until he didn’t. Some people will put up with a lot.
