The TikTok ban is a proxy for the escalating economic cold war between the US and China. Also watch the EV space (e.g. BYD) and pretty soon, AI (e.g. DeepSeek).

What happened with competing on Innovation?

Too bad for the 7M creators, and for the rest of us who derived some daily joy from it.

I get it that sometimes we vote for someone we don't particularly like, someone flawed (after all we all are), I get that.

What I don't get is that some of us decided it was fine to vote for someone so morally and ethically repugnant

I don't get that, never will. The moral contortion is beyond me!

Big Tech moguls + billionaires who bent the knee to Trump so far:

Elon Musk
Tim Cook
Sundar Pichai
Sergey Brin
Jeff Bezos
Mark Zuckerberg
Satya Nadella
Sam Altman
Dara Khosrowshahi
Marc Andreessen
Marc Benioff
... and more

I get it that some of them may not have a choice, but it's nauseating.

Went to see Gladiator 2. Not bad, but not great. Nowhere as "epic" as the first one.

Denzel Washington steals the show. Connie Nielsen is back, in a lot of sad scenes meant to be poignant but alas didn't quite work. Also, the main character is miscast IMHO.

Good solid entertainment though.

A long time ago before the Internet, my parents had these big fancy encyclopedias—I think it was the Larousse—proudly sitting on a bookshelf in our living room.

I loved flipping through those thick books on lazy summer days.

I read this book 20 years ago. I thought it was brilliant. It argued that large group of people can be remarkably intelligent and wise, as long as there is:

• Diverse perspectives
• Independent thinking
• Decentralized knowledge
• Transparent information

These days I wonder what happened.
