Medium sized bird pecking on the ground “dove grey” with pretty white spotted neck band, and inconspicuous little brown bird is a very fat sparrow.

I’ve just had to turn in one of these predators. I don’t dislike cats, but irresponsible owners really wind me up.

I can remember when gambling was frowned upon and the huge cost to families and civilised society was recognised. No pokies in Victoria. Betting on sport was a clandestine activity.
Gambling makes us all losers.
Apparently negations to reduce gambling ads have commenced and channel Nine wants govt ie us to pay compensation! The gall of them.

Hume highway. Long straight stretch of road ahead, double lane in front and beside. The sky is very blue and low hanging clouds fluffy white and grey. There are dark trees on one side and in the distance low blue hills. This goes on and on for many kms until in summer the sky is cloudless and the hills are pale beige.

My verge garden is flowering beautifully. Mainly natives and local to the area.
Golden everlastings ( papery daisy like flower) mauve daisy brachysomes, bright yellow drumsticks or billy buttons and one gone to seed, plus one cluster of golden everlastings or yellow buttons.

A bit saddened to see my urban birds are mainly blackbirds, sparrow, spotted doves-basically introduced pests. Thank heavens for the lorikeets, wattle birds, silver eyes and weebills in the callistemon or just darting through.
Brightly coloured: blue wings, red chest and head, overall yellow green chest of the crimson rosella ( yellow variant)- which is an exceedingly stupid name. Grey brown and cream intricately patterned bird in silhouette against pale sky. This is a red wattle bird ( with no obvious red wattles ) Bright blue, red yellow and green head of lorikeet peeping over the callistemon red bottle brush flowers Pretty grey bird with spotted necklace perched on guttering is the Spotted dove and a bit of a pest.
