'Ere I am. JH!
Opening "are your ducts old and tired?" TV shop shot. With tinsel and baubles. Christmas established from the off.

Watched Rare Exports for the first time last year, after long intending to. 7/10 but worth having in the canon.

Realised my top two films are Christmassy.
Brazil is jam packed with Christmas imagery.
Santa Sangre, well it has Santa in the title!

I've got a degree, a National Trust membership, I like olives and subtitled films. I don't know what Better Help is.

John Wick 4 is incredible, but 3 is the best of them.

"Unless you live alone", starts the OP.

(Apologies if I've misunderstood, and you share your one plate with a partner)

Actually quite a revelation for me - that it's not really a religion thing, it's a class thing.

In Derry Girls there's a scene where Protestant and Catholic school kids are brought together in an effort to build harmony. They're invited to write on a whiteboard differences between each other.

Cut to a board covered in statements including "Protestants keep the toaster in a cupboard" 😆

The ideal use case is where you know what a good result looks like, but making it by other means is hard work.
Then if it gives you a good result, you keep it. If it gives you a bad result, you try again, or fall back to the hard-work method.

The more you try, the more you crave :)

As with all the AI stuff, it's good at what it's good at, and bad at what it's bad at. It's very bad at what you've asked it to do here, but that doesn't mean it hasn't got uses.

bsky.app/profile/manx...

You replied to me here. It was your first appearance in that thread. It was not right so I said why. Rather than any sort of rebuttal, you pulled the "stop mansplaining" card.
All the data they need to do that would come through PoS. They only need to know what is selling, not who is buying it.

I'm dropping out of the supermarket discussion now because you're both wilfully misunderstanding. But I'm really curious why you think I like Prefab Sprout.

Mansplaining does exist (just go to an art gallery and watch boomer husbands) but you can't just use it to shut down anything a man says.

Dr Yates stated in another thread that supermarkets can optimise efficiency equally well with standard PoS data as with the extra detail of loyalty data.
When corrected, she told me to "stop mansplaining".

I can't remember ever not liking beer. My love of ever more resinous hops might be something I'm continually acquiring.

You choose not to give them that thing, you don't get the quid pro quo. Fine, your choice, but don't complain about it.
November 25, 2025 at 10:28 PM
That's an old chestnut, and it's true in a sense. But it's a trade. You give them something, they give you something in return.

I'm British and I too think "childcare" is primarily a word for when a parent/guardian isn't the one doing it.

How come you're allowed to explain things and I'm not?
