I'm a trans health researcher, writer, dog owner, and (not particularly good) artist in a variety of media. I talk about trans and reproductive rights, ttrpgs, dogs, pottery, and politics. My statements/opinions are mine - not those of any of my employers
This is how my no longer tiny puppy gets out of the car. She puts her paws over my shoulder and then I pick her up under her butt. Which is actually a remarkably comfortable way to carry a 34lb dog! Plus it's adorable.

Honestly the pup is really channeling how I feel about the world right now. Just STOP.

Mental exercise: working on two academic papers the current administration will definitely hate for their "woke" perspective (yay!) and helping a beloved friend and colleague with a research question. Physical exercise: shoveling the really heavy snow and toweling the sad, damp puppy.

Stayed from being horrified by the world by being once again, very put off by #Duolingo’s choice of a widget image. Why?!?! I find the widget convenient for seeing if I have practiced, but sometimes it’s really unpleasant to look at. @duolingoverde.bsky.social

I’m passing on information about a study of United States undergraduate and graduate with students who identify as both Ace and trans or non-binary being run by two trans/ace researchers. I know one of these researchers well (Genny) and they do awesome work. Tinyurl.com/acetransstudy

I saw this headline in The Guardian, and I screamed, out loud, at my phone, "Not right now they don’t! Have you read yourself lately?" I do not understand the analysts who seem to think that Trump has some genius political plan. He is just a five year-old boy whose parents have never said no to him.

Oh hey!!! I was just talking about the apocalyptic unicorns and there you are. I missed you :) Also my puppy says hi to your puppies by thwapping them with her front paw and then jumping on their heads.

Good morning. This is a difficult day for many people (and I miss picking up holiday SW coverage shifts at the hospital, because I’m odd) so I give to you an adorable puppy and her familiar The Fox (I thought about naming her Wren but ended up going with Pumpkin) @worldsbeyondnumber.bsky.social

Just sitting in the doorway to my office, with a 30+ year old Alanis Morissette album stuck on repeat in my brain, while the apex predator that is my puppy tries valiantly to hunt for her favored prey… pocket tissues. I would just like the sun to come up before we go for a walk.

On my to do list are three in progress papers, one set of revisions, and one reformat, but I'm currently sitting on the dog bed assisting this valiant beast in chewing on her current foe and watching her repeatedly rediscover that my coffee lid tastes terrible.

Plum - when I finish getting my vaccines, we should be friends. how do you feel about crazy puppies with sharp teefers?
November 16, 2024 at 1:10 PM
Ok. I've moved over here. I'm not certain how much I'm going to post over here but let's start with the shouldn't be controversial statement that everyone should have access to civil and human rights, even if you don't like or understand them. Also, a cute puppy picture.

When you have a #keeshond , your friends send you pictures of every other kees they see, and the truly excellent friends arrange meet ups.

My dog was very happy to meet the great pumpkin.

I just went out for donuts and dragons. I’ve been hoping for a month that one of these would last until the post Halloween 50% off sale...

Sometimes when you walk the quiet streets on a moonless night, you stumble across a garden of ghosts...

I’m pretty sure this is a giant, inflatable skeleton unicorn pony? I had to pull over to photograph it so I could send a picture to @seananmcguire . It just seems like a thing she needs to know exists.

There is little in this world that is not improved by googly eyes. I love my neighborhood.

Good morning, Twitter! This morning's edition of "I love Somerville" is brought to you by skeleton Santa on a flying bike.
November 16, 2024 at 10:40 PM
I love beautiful disintegration.

One of my favorite things about Somerville is the large number of people who embrace fun in their home decor. (Although now I too want a giant skeleton. But I want mine to be wearing a tutu and fascinator.)

Found this graffiti where my dog was having the photo shoot he won. It was a nice morning.

I didn’t know I needed Alexis Hall to write a historical romance with a trans lead, but I really did.
