Equity Kids celebrates Juneteenth and honors Opal Lee. At 89, she conducted walks symbolizing the delay of the Emancipation reaching Texas. Her efforts led to Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday in 2021. Opal Lee embodies Equity Kids' mission to educate and dismantle racial injustices. #Juneteenth

Equity Kids knows well that children have an intimate sense of justice. In May 1963, more than 1,000 students skipped school to participate in the "Children's Crusade." The incredible courage of these children led to the end to segregation in Birmingham.
