An army marches on its stomach. I’m from the army of one era of army sloganeering. Therefore tomorrow I’m personally obligated to eat as many tiny steaks from Applebees as geographically feasible.

People should use their SNAP benefits for whatever they think they need. Both because any effort you make to micromanage purchases is inefficient and cumbersome and because people who need help aren’t obligated to perform for or satisfy others in order to eat.

Unless I absolutely must for professional reasons, I will not be watching your nuclear war movie. I will not be watching your incredibly bleak and depressing murder show. I will not be watching your artistic despair. It’s nothing personal, I just don’t order water when I’m already bailing my boat.

The “problem” with vaccines? They so effective at preventing deaths that they create generations of people that question whether disease was a problem in the first place because they have never experienced the horrors of a world without vaccines.

In addition to the importance of due process, there are other reasons why we should be concerned about the border czar saying ICE agents are the people who decide whether a detainee is linked to a gang and should be deported immediately

I know @themountaingoats.bsky.social is all about magic and dunking on normies but the 13 year old power in a union video popped up in my feed and brought me to literal tears this afternoon. Emotions close to the surface these days. youtu.be/_2ajMrnVmxE?...

To celebrate the new toll fees, I think it’s fair that the turnpike authority use some of that added $ to run ads featuring a new mascot, “the toll troll,” whose job is to nickel-and-dime everyday Okies so the state can afford tax exemptions for corporations.

I’m not optimistic that this’ll happen.

These are two amazing artists. The fact one of America's foremost modern Jewish chroniclers of the Holocaust is turning to Gaza should also not be lost on anyone
Maus author Art Spiegelman’s next comic will be about Gaza, in collaboration with Joe Sacco. He thinks he will struggle to find a publisher in the United States.

“I’ll finish this thing or die trying.”
Art Spiegelman Won’t Shrink Back From Controversy
The artist has illustrated more than one contentious New Yorker cover in his career, chronicled in a new film, and his next project will be no less gutsy.

#dandadan finished the first season with some hellish cliffhangers. Predation and non consent seem to be the true bad guys of the series.

#dandadan (not quite finished but want to wax) seems to be about tension- between purity and virility, between the chaos of sexuality and the order of ritual. Ghosts seem to represent victims of violence or avengers of it. The aliens are perpetrators and obsessive about the mechanics of sexuality…
