True, visited a vegetable breeding station in Holland. Don't remember the details, but 19th century sprouts were mild, but some breeding decisions in the 20th century unintentionally brought back bitterness. In the 80's they figured out the cause & bred it back out. I'll look for a pop sci article

Love to see it. I'm an OLD biochemist who predates plate readers, anything you can do on a plate system can be don manually with a simple spectrophotometer. I'll follow progress eagerly.

One can find small used absorbance instruments at very low cost, particularly if single cell (cuvette) measurement is all you need

Judging by the stories told by my farmer relatives (born 1890 to 1920's) horses were very frequently the cause of injuries, usually when panicked.

My aunt, who famously had a poor sense of smell, banned it from the house. The garage refrigerator was used, and vigorously cleaned afterwards
