Increasing support for the Greens has depth, with many people (67% on average) thinking politicians don't share their values on #nature. They are abandoning the usual parties for @zackpolanski.bsky.social principles and policies.

Talk by Starmer at the climate change summit but he does this. Action needed to match words 30 or 40 years ago. He's actively anti-environmentalist now because he thinks it suits his party political needs. #COP30 #makerichpolluterspay

It's #November and there's a lot of grey and bareness is growing. This great poem by the great #RobertFrost really makes me think.

The ....... formerly known as #Prince. Even after being forced out of Windsor he will live rent free on another huge estate. He should be facing a trial.

Excellent #Plaid Cymru win in #Caerphilly. Reform can be kept out if progressive voters support the progressive candidate most likely to beat them. Loved seeing Lindsay Whittle win as he's been standing in elections there since 1983!

Greens combining environmental, social and economic justice is appealing to more and more voters. @zackpolanski.bsky.social energy and clarity is excellent. Tax the wealthy to invest in public services and greening the economy.

Cut fossil fuel imports by building #renewables (and large scale battery storage and energy saving). Tax the wealthy to help pay for investment.

#Tradition is accepting something without requiring justification and this should be rejected. Justification is what makes things more likely to be reasonable. Embracing/using traditions is often a feature of fascism.

The Greens were never, ever, just about trees and animals. Redistribution of wealth on a big scale has always been there. Why? Social justice and ecological justice are inseparable. The rich and super-rich abusively exploit people and the environment. #wealthtaxes

Fossil fuel gas is expensive and gets more expensive into the future, compared with #renewables like solar and wind power. Not forgetting the massive costs #climatechange will continue to bring if we burn #fossilfuels for longer.

RIP #BrianPatten. Always loved the intensity of his poetry. Here's one my favourites (since reading it decades ago I often think of and say 'like a warm planet'): The Stolen Orange

Scientists are #trusted by the public but politicians and news journalists are distrusted. Poll on last night's Newsnight. Wish the +58% for #scientists was much higher though.

#ReformUK: not competent, not credible. Focused on headline grabbing and stirring up division.

Yes, injustices (inequalities, unfairness, unsustainability) are challenged by critical thinking, reasoning and responsible action. Our current #education system is not as sharply focused on these as it should be, to say the least.

Is this you? Do you back the likes of Trump, Farage, Putin, various other despots as in the Middle East and elsewhere? #ethics #futuregenerations #children #grandchildren

#ReformUK leadership: schools attended. They are part of the #establishment, falsely portraying themselves as anti-establishment.
September 16, 2025 at 5:16 PM
The #Starmer Labour Govt policies (or lack of) are failing as well its ethics and judgements. Previous Tory and Labour Govts have certainly failed on the #environment - but things are getting even worse under Starmer.

So sad to have covered the #river with concrete and tarmac. Shortsighted not to maximise the river as a central city feature - just look at the state of #Bristol's city central area now (dug up and redone many times, at great cost, and it's still awful).

See this! We have the #technologies. (Systemic changes needed in our politics, economics and society to make the most of them - no political will for this in the conventional parties though).

I don't draw or need hard and fast and fixed boundaries or flags to be a #patriot - not in an exclusive or superior way. We are all related to early human migrants who travelled from Africa. All our blood is red. We are successful as humans when/because we are social.
September 4, 2025 at 8:40 PM
I'm #patriotic because of deep connections I have to place: my neighbourhood, my city, my country. My family, friends, all people, all visitors, experiences, where I've lived and where I've regularly stayed, have shaped me and given meaning to my life.

On a physically finite planet continual physical #growth can't be sustained. Pursuing #GDP growth, for the economy overall, causes many social, economic & environmental problems.

Better goals: equality; fairness; efficiency; renewability; security; community; health; circularity; broad prosperity.

We have made the societies we have. We cannot sustain them. What we make we can remake. #truth #empowerment #remaking
