BREAKING: SCOTUS orders the government not to remove anyone from the United States under Trump’s Alien Enemies Act proclamation who is a part of the potential class in the Northern District of Texas case until further order of the court.

Only Thomas and Alito note their dissent.

In tales of how stupid AI actually is, we were just carded at Whole Foods while buying Red Wine Vinegar.

...At least I sincerely hope it was AI and not an actual human being who coded that into thier system.

A recent post has me thinking about the time period before 1985 when the Rice was one small voice alongside GRRM, Saberhagen, Matheson, King, Charnas, Stoker, the somewhat harder to find Le Fanu & the powerhouse of Yarbo. These & the Hammer Films were the dominant vampire idiom.

Omg I love this.
Haven't seen this reported anywhere but a judge overseeing Florida's attempt to age gate all social media pointed to the failure of D&D to make him worship Satan as a kid to suggest the state needs actual evidence, and not just vibes about a social media moral panic. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/11/j...

"The beacons are lit, Gondor calls for aid."

Understand, that while this is an amazing moment, it's also a desperate call for help. The AltNationalParkService have been and continue to be representing those directly most affected. They are doing the impossible.

Support them in every way you can.

A quick resistance task:
1. Google Gulf of Mexico
2. “Gulf of America" is the top
3. Click on the three little dots to the right of it
4. Select "Send Feedback"
5. Click on "Gulf Of America"
6. Select "Inaccurate content"
7. Select "Incorrect" and type in "The correct name is “Gulf of Mexico"

In a collection of excellent performances, wrapped up in equally excellent direction, set design, and cinematography. Lily Rose Depp really stood out in Robert Egger's Nosferatu (2024).

Refuse to participate over on X, but the question was raised of what your favorite sword from fiction was? My vote is tied between Ogier the Dane's sword Cortana, or this one:

The weird self-awareness that your incredibly privileged lunch is also basically the same meal of a 17th century French peasant (I tossed some Brie in the microwave with some almonds and dried cranberries so I could eat quickly between patients).

I can admit that I'm a curmudgeon in many ways, but does it just seem like 5e keeps reinventing the wheel in less & less creative ways that are weirdly prescriptive? (re: Bastion rules) To be clear, I tried 5e for a handful of years (had a campaign that went to ~9th level) & finally returned to 1.5e

My spouse and I stopped playing #Destiny after multiple tries in the Avalon Wyvern Pit on Legend. It just stopped being fun, and I think I've logged in only a handful of times since, and really only played once (to do the Season of the Witch intro). We switched to #Warframe and haven't looked back.

The only hope I have for "They Follow" is that it's not a blatant, immediate, money-grabbing sequel to a successful and surprisingly good, self-contained, minimalistic movie that needed no sequel. I hope it's amazing, but I'm dreading going to see it when it finally arrives.

You know, I went back to AD&D 1.75e a few years ago after giving 5e a solid try and eventually deciding it wasn't for me. I pretty much ignore everything from WOTC because, well, WOTC. But I do have to say the the new Planescape book gives me hope that I could finally get a nice Lady of Pain mini.
