Tomorrow:

Louis Doulas’s talk, “Of Tables and the Atomic Theory: Lessons from Stebbing’s Philosophy of Science,” develops a ‘stereoscopic’ reading of Susan Stebbing’s (1885–1943) philosophy of science, arguing that science and the everyday world aren’t opposed but must be held in view together.
March 20, 2025 at 5:11 PM
It's tomorrow!

Lisa Shapiro, the PI of this project, will talk to us about Gabrielle Suchon on the idea of a Neutralist.

Prof. Shapiro specializes in 17th and 18th century philosophy, focusing on questions about human nature, the nature of thinking, and the place of emotions in human understanding
March 20, 2025 at 1:03 PM
Daniel Seggie's talk, "Mary Astell on separatism and empowerment", will be on Astell's ethics, how it focuses on women's edification & empowerment, & how she identifies the presence of men in women's lives as a barrier to the development of the set of capacities that are required to live well.
March 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM
Natalia Zorrilla Sirlin's talk, "Louise Dupin and Women’s History," explores Dupin’s (1706–1799) feminism, particularly her feminist recovery of women’s history, esp. in her work "Des femmes", and her call to reassess cultural heritage from a feminist perspective.

See you at McGill on Friday!
