Billionaires are using a loophole to avoid Medicare taxes. Closing it — and eliminating other ways around the tax for wealthy business owners — could raise more than $250 billion over 10 years for the program.

How a Decades-Old Loophole Lets Billionaires Avoid Medicare Taxes
Some of Wall Street’s richest and most powerful figures are using a legal loophole to avoid paying millions of dollars in taxes earmarked for health care, a ProPublica investigation found.

Today’s SCOTUS decision on birthright citizenship nationwide injunctions is too important not to have a clear explanation of its import.

So I invited @stevevladeck.bsky.social to walk us through what it means and what is next:

Trump is allowing deadly diseases to flourish while working furiously to weaken health care access to close to 100m people.

It's as if he is literally trying to kill millions of us, on purpose, by design as he is to the poorest people in the world thru gutting USAID. We must fight.
Parents better start waking up to what is happening here. No COVID boosters, measles surging, possible return of pandemics to schools and colleges. Trump is fucking over our kids and we need to fight much harder for them.
Prisons as measles superspreaders.....schools, colleges, ICE facilities this fall? Are we on the verge of a national measles epidemic? Any one home in the US government? Govs, state health officials have to start getting very, very loud now.

Great news: Carol was just released from police custody!

Thank you for spreading the word 😊😊😊
Disabled activist Carol Olinger is still in custody after peacefully protesting GOP Medicaid cuts.

She needs insulin NOW & has kidney dialysis at 6am.

This is medical neglect—cruel and deliberate. Her life is at risk.

We demand her release & care. Please share widely!

Anyone with that kind of wealth has completely fucked their ability to appreciate anything anymore. The lengths they have to go to just to feel anything is obscene. They crave power because that's all that's left in their sad little lives.

Mental Illness running rampant and normalized as success.
Is it immoral to be too rich?
Is excessive wealth immoral? Most people do not think so, but members of societies that are more equal and wealthy than average are more likely to believe it is wrong to have too much money.

This is some dystopian shit right here.
“Surveillance pricing,” or as it’s sometimes called, “personalized pricing,” is another way for corporations to pull one over on you.

The Shady World of Surveillance Pricing (Ft. Lina Khan)
Should corporations be able to weaponize your personal data to rip you off? Well, they may already be doing that thanks

With prices soaring, eggs have been reported stolen from porches and farm stands. At one point, federal agents at the border were seizing eggs more often than fentanyl.

Then, earlier this year, a Maryland sheriff’s office learned about a $100,000 egg heist — complete with a ransom note.
The Great Egg Heist: 280,000 eggs disappeared from America’s top producer. Then came a ransom note.
As prices skyrocketed, and egg giant Cal-Maine raked in record profits, the company was hit by one of the biggest egg thefts in history.
