People are doing that thing where they’re trying to overcorrect on a problem. Data centers have existed long before the AI scourge. They have their problems and we should not be building them at the scale that AI needs. Like all technology it has to be implemented responsibly.
on today’s episode of “bluesky is unhinged and not real life”

a writer for wired is being attacked here for *checks notes* writing about how it’s better if data centers are powered by renewable energy and not located in drought areas

We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

German court rules that OpenAI violated copyright laws by training ChatGPT on music 🎵

• May set precedent for Europe AI copyright uses

• OpenAI disagrees & can appeal

Fifth-grader: Why is Frankenstein the bad guy?

Me: He created a human being but he didn't love him or teach him anything. It's like he had a baby and abandoned it.

FG: Oh. Like Elon Musk does.

New Projector review! Guillermo del Toro has finally made his dream project Frankenstein, a bold, deeply personal interpretation of the Mary Shelley novel. I look at it's themes of fatherhood, and the surprising connections to Pinocchio, it's the most del Toro. 📽️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4bJ...

The hemp ban that got slipped into this bill is one of those “our elected officials are in the pockets of capital and are also too fuckin old” things. It’s a combination of old fogeys who want to keep weed illegal and the alcohol industry doing mob tactics to reduce competition.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.
