Good boy Hubble, adhering to the no cancer rule! FFS, I don't think I've cried so much in years. What a rollercoaster of a week. I'm very grateful for our vet having the consult, CT+biopsy, and results in less than a week. Waiting was brutal.

I don't cry over many things tbh, but the tears I have shed over every gray hair, every stiff movement, every time I see "senior" on his medical records... This dog has a steel grip on my heart. I've had him since he was 10 weeks, and he'll be 9 in October.

I love this dog so much more than I ever thought I could love anything. I know he can't be here forever, but I really, really, really want longer than this (if it's what is best for him ofc).

Cassini is doing better every day. She's started to play with Hubble on walks and even show some playfulness towards small toys (on walks). Still won't come out of her room, but she'll get there. Meanwhile, Hubble has his biopsy Tuesday and we're crossing all fingers, toes, & paws. Waiting sucks!

Cassini is doing better every day. She's started to play with Hubble on walks and even show some playfulness towards small toys (on walks). Still won't come out of her room, but she'll get there. Meanwhile, Hubble has his biopsy Tuesday and we're crossing all fingers, toes, & paws. Waiting sucks!
Cassini is slowly settling in, but she still has a lot of fear, particularly of men. The woods are the one place she seems to relax, so I can't wait until she's comfortable enough with Hubble & Tenn that we can do a pack hike!

I've realized that I think loving pets is the only real unconditional love (for me). They never have malice or bad intent, and there is literally nothing in the whole world they could do that would make me stop loving them. Hubble & Tenn have my whole heart (and they know it! 😂)

Except - we often don't have the sensory capability to detect all the signals animals use to communicate (e.g infrasonic communication in elephants). It seems so arrogant to dismiss complex communication as "not language" before we've comprehensively understood it.

This week, I'm focused on knitting in the round. I attempted this fisherman's rib cowl like 20 times before realizing the pattern I was following was wrong 😬 This attempt is going better though

Another little break from doomscrolling: I'm teaching myself to knit! It helps me focus in meetings and also stay away from scrolling social media constantly. My first week knitting, I made these washcloth/practice squares. Full of mistakes, but I'm learning!
