I design infrastructure for pedestrians and people on bikes. Also love transit. Posts are my personal opinions and do not reflect the position of my employer
I'm relatively sure it will get planted in a similar fashion to the existing portion of Robert Grant south of Abbott, which often has double rows of trees per side.

Also in Montreal this weekend. Love their murals to hide "blank walls". Even simple murals do the trick.

That is what is proposed in draft 2 of the Zoning By-Law. Here is the maximum rates proposed - to be applied within 600m of a rapid transit station:

The 24 hour bicycle mode share for various TRANS districts in the Outer Urban Transect in 2011 is 1 or 2 percent (source: share.google/iV0hV99SSNSG...), whereas the 2022 O-D survey results show a 3 percent bicycle mode share for the same Outer Urban Transect - about double 2011.

This is the ultimate network in the draft TMP. See the consultation website for more documents and info: engage.ottawa.ca/transportati...
Other than Stage 3 rail extensions (Barrhaven/Kanata), much of the priority network is focussed on Transitway expansion to support planned rail.

A planned station is actually missing from the map:

Also these areas are redeveloping, so some improvement in land use is coming. Still not great, but at least the train station is well connected to downtown via the O-Train.

In peak 60s planning it used to be a full cloverleaf with ramps directly to the train station. So, improvement, it's better than it used to be!

There are some developments doing that as well. Nokia is planning to redevelop their huge parking lot (in red) into their new offices, labs, and a parking structure. Then long term they plan to develop the remaining land (in blue) to residential.

Red will be unidirectional cycle track, yellow will revert back to paved shoulder.

Depends what history you want to highlight. Go back to the 70s and the land was some buildings and a parking lot. It's really just going back to its historic roots.

March Road from the 417 to Terry Fox is in the Priority Network (pre 2046).

Also, that summary is slightly incorrect, the suburban transect maximum parking rate within 600m of rapid transit was set at 1.0 per unit, not 0.75.

The bridge will connect to Montée Paiement in Gatineau, so the service you are describing would probably terminate at Station de la Cité I would think (purple star). It's a good idea for a connection though.

Forgot to mention that the short eastbound bus lane between Montgomery and the Vanier Parkway was also updated to be active between 2:30PM-6:00PM (previously 3:30PM-5:30PM). No pic, so here is November 2024 Street View showing it.

Compare before/after in terms of signage. Which one is more likely to be noticed?

Unfortunately, today at 9:00AM this truck and van belonging to a glass installation company wasn't respecting the no stopping regulations. New and improved bus lanes should come with an initial blitz of awareness and enforcement to change habitual behaviour.

Update: Along the same corridor as Rideau Street, the westbound bus lane on Montreal Road in Vanier between St. Laurent Boulevard and Montgomery Street has also had its timespan expanded! Previously 7:00-9:00, now 6:00-9:30.
