You’re right! I wish the game vehicle wasn’t in the picture and it was just the incredible hyenas, but it’s the reality for a lot of encounters in South Africa.

This reserve already has strict policies about the number of vehicles, the distance and all that but it still felt like too much at times.

To be clear, we stopped at a safe distance away from the elephants and just observed them. They moved towards our car on their own and for everyone’s safety we shut the vehicle off and remained quiet and calm.
Never carry food when observing elephants and give them space.

i’m trying to find one now so that i can practice before i get the chance to photograph some primates this summer! it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity so i really want to have a good camera :))
