honestly i would use that hour to talk to the same devs i've befriended at industry events but alone without loud music or going "huh?" or nodding and smiling because i didn't hear and was too ashamed to ask them to repeat themselves

It's hurtful coming from peers who have more experience and greater pull in the industry too, like "you should've known better!"

and you're saying this in response to articles coming out where the *marginalized were given a platform to speak*. maybe don't dunk on that

you can't fault some of us for giving someone the benefit of the doubt :)

Much of the hand wringing, imo, is over a critic explicitly saying they are judging the moral fabric of a piece of art because of the tools used to create it and it’s making some folks feel uncomfortable and shamed. The people who feel that way should sit with that feeling.
